Because of your high activity level and age your metabolism is also high so your weight is not a problem. Unfortunately this makes you complacent and you develop a taste for fatty junk food. You develop a habit of unhealthy eating because your metabolism helps you burn off most of the calories from the junk food and so the negative effects remain unnoticed. </p>
<p>Weight loss is something almost everyone struggles with sooner or later. The search for the best diet or the most effective exercise regiment can last for years. On the surface, it seems like the search is about looking fit in the eyes of others. </p>
<p>You&#8217;ve got to impress &#8220;them,&#8221; right? In order to be successful, happy and attract that life mate, you have to look good to them. Hmmmm. </p>
<p>This is partially true, however, looking fit (worthy) is really about getting in touch with your own self-worth, accessing a deeper worth that is not derived from your appearance. &#8220;How to lose weight&#8221; is not the only question you should be asking. You don&#8217;t have to let go of the quest to lose weight, but at least try putting this question along side of it: &#8220;How can I find a sense of worth and fitness on the inside, no matter how my body looks?&#8221; </p>
<p>You probably are already asking such a question, unconsciously.</p>
<p>As you are trying to lose weight, the above question usually lies beneath the quest you are on. Since it is there anyway, I am suggesting you make it even more conscious. Make it more of a priority. Make self-acceptance just as equal in importance to weight loss. Then see what happens.</p>
<p>When you make self-acceptance the goal, along with the weight loss, you open a door towards feeling much better emotionally. You begin to realize that there are other ways to solve this problem, aside from just dieting and exercising. Going for true self-worth gets you to stare the problem right in its eyes. You then start to uncover the core issues.</p>
<p>It is strongly advised you get help if many wounds are surfacing. There are many great books and resources on weight loss self-esteem, body image, and true self-acceptance that will take you in new directions.</p>
<p>But the problem and its solution start with you. What I am saying here is that the real problem is not how to lose weight, or what to eat, etc. the real problem is self-judgment. What else can it be?</p>
<p>You only feel bad in the eyes of others if you are looking at your self through judgmental eyes. When you take of your &#8220;glasses&#8221; of self-judgment, no matter how thick they are, then you will have gotten to the root of the problem.  You take them off, by seeing how unjoyuful they are. You remove self-judgment about your body image or anything for that matter, by noticing how unhelpful it is, and simultaneously finding ways to feel more self-esteem. </p>
<p>There is no quick fix when it comes to weight loss, but if you make gradual improvements across a number of areas, the combined effect will put the brakes on the obesity snowball and have your weight loss snowball rolling before you know it. </p>

<p>Well, are you in shape yet? Please tell me you&#8217;re not one of those New Year&#8217;s resolution people. No offense, but the old resolution pact is bogus with a capital B. Too many people claim that they&#8217;re going to start the New Year off right by exercising regularly. Ha! That&#8217;s a joke for two reasons. The same people make the same resolution every year, and if they were actually serious about getting in shape, they would start now. Proper fitness training is essential for living and feeling well. Your body needs that daily bit of physical exercise to keep it strong and healthy. What you don&#8217;t need is another New Year&#8217;s resolution. Get in shape starting today. It&#8217;s time to adopt some decent fitness training and incorporate it into your schedule. </p>
<p>How often do you exercise each week? Wait, let me guess; you simply don&#8217;t have the time. Yeah, that&#8217;s what a lot of Americans say, but then they come home from work and plop down on the couch for hours of TV watching. Why not try exercising while you watch TV? The old excuse of not having enough time is pretty much played out these days. Maybe you can develop a good fitness training regime and squeeze it in three or four days a week. Come on, that&#8217;s only 3 or 4 hours out of your entire week of 168 hours. That shouldn&#8217;t be so difficult. It can truly do wonders for your figure and health. How often do you catch a break during the day when you could do 50 quick jumping jacks, or maybe 20 fast push-ups? Many people don&#8217;t understand that something is always better than nothing. One thing I can tell you for sure is that a quality fitness training routine will increase your health and energy levels. Are you feeling up-to-par each day, or drained from the moment you get up in the morning? So much of how we feel concerns our diet, sleep, and fitness training. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re looking to get started with a good fitness training program, it&#8217;s time to ponder your options. Maybe you have a gym nearby that you could stop at a few times a week after work. Or maybe you wish to take care of all your fitness training at home. If this is the case, you&#8217;re not alone. I too prefer to exercise at home. Basic equipment is inexpensive and worth its weight in gold in the long run. You can get in shape if you sincerely want it. So don&#8217;t procrastinate; start your fitness training today. </p>

While we are flooded with fast food adds, we then see how unbearably thin our entertainers are becoming. It&#8217;s an odd situation. People continue to stuff their faces with pizza and burgers, yet always seem to want that size six waist. There is probably no ideal solution to this age-old problem. When it comes to our weight and health, a reasonable diet and sufficient exercise always prove superior. Fortunately there is diet information everywhere we turn. </p>
<p>My friend is someone who has always struggled with her weight. It wasn&#8217;t until she hit her 50&#8217;s and became afflicted with diabetes, that she actually started taking it seriously. <p>In simple terms diabetes is the inability of the body to process sugars properly. When we eat or drink our pancreas produces a hormone called insulin. Insulin is released into the blood and helps to regulate the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. Diabetes is a condition where this process does not function correctly. This is due to either: </p>
<p>1.  No insulin being produced, often called Type 1 diabetes, and requires the sufferer to use insulin injections, or&#8230; </p>
<p>2.  Insulin is produced but the body becomes Resistant to it. This renders the insulin ineffective. This is normally called Type 2 diabetes and is rapidly becoming more common. </p>
<p>Latest research shows that 2 in every 100 people have diabetes. Alarmingly half of these people do not even know they have it. Many people have diabetes without being aware of it because someone with diabetes looks no different from anyone else. </p>
<p>Someone can have diabetes for months or even years without realizing they have the condition. The danger is that while diabetes is not immediately life threatening, the long term effects of high blood sugar can be damaging to one&#8217;s health. Uncontrolled diabetes and prolonged high blood sugar levels can, in later life, cause problems to many organs including the kidneys, eyes, nerves and the heart. This may sound grim, however controlling blood sugar by a combination of medicine, diet and exercise will vastly reduce the long term complications. </p>
<p>Americans certainly need to work on this particular issue. The fact is that thin is healthy, whether people want to hear it or not. You don&#8217;t have to be supermodel thin, but you need to maintain a healthy weight. Eating right is always a concern. Once you have acquired diabetes, you will need to diet for diabetes. <p>Are you ready to fire up your fat burning capabilities? The basics of metabolism has everything to do with fat burning. It is the biochemical processes that take place in the body; the breakdown of nutrients in the blood after digestion, resulting in growth of new tissue, more energy, and the release of wastes.</p>
<p>A concern for many right now is losing weight. As it becomes easier and easier to eat high fat and low nutrient food, it becomes easier to gain weight. There are many methods you should combine to lose weight the right way.</p>
<p>The obvious way, of course, is to eat less. Or you can try to improve your diet and eat better. Boosting metabolism is also an obvious way to lose weight, and many people do this through exercise.</p>
<p>Your metabolism is, basically, the rate at which your body uses the energy in food. In different people, natural metabolism is different. If you want to boost your metabolism there are several different approaches.

<p>If you exercise, your metabolism will slowly increase as the cells in your body consume more in order to keep themselves going. Exercise should be varied – muscle building will help by boosting metabolism as well as using up more calories in the long term, and aerobic exercise, which can even be just going for a short walk, will slowly build up a higher metabolism, as well as increasing all around health. </p>
<p>Another way of boosting metabolism which at first seems counter productive is to eat more. As in, eat more often. If you eat below a certain amount of calories in a day, rather than boosting your metabolism, you are lowering it – cells start learning to survive on fewer calories, and no longer need as many calories.

<p>This is sometimes called starvation mode. This mode is how your body would survive if there was a famine. Cells don’t work as well in starvation mode. This is why it is important to eat breakfast each day. </p>

<p>There are also certain foods which can help in boosting metabolism. Sugary foods do not help (these actually slow metabolism rather than speed it up), but spicy foods have been seen to help in weight loss by boosting metabolism. Eating small, tasty, and healthy meals several times a day is the best approach when trying to lose weight. </p>
<p>Sleep and stress also affect your efforts at boosting metabolism. Stress slows your metabolism and releases steroids called cortisol into your body that cause your metabolism to slow, besides the fact that many dieters often want to eat more (and most likely) unhealthy food when they become stressed. </p>

<p>Sleep is helpful in boosting metabolism.  Eight or nine hours a night is best for most people. If you exercise on a regular basis your metabolism will actually function better. </p>
<p>Boosting metabolism is important because as people get older, metabolism inevitably slows down. By boosting metabolism, people keep their body fit and at optimum energy levels. So go out! Take a walk; actually walk three times a week for at least thirty minutes.  </p>

<p>The Atkins diet, first introduced in 1972 by cardiologist Dr. Robert Atkins, is considered the most extreme of the low carb diets. Hundreds of research studies by universities and research teams throughout North America, Europe, and Asia have been conducted on the Atkins diet. </p>
<p>Basically, the eating plan revolves around protein and water. You need a lot of water on this plan as is the case in any weight loss plan out there. Water is crucial on the Atkins Diet because your body loses so much weight so quickly that your kidneys have difficulty flushing everything out of your system if you are dehydrated.</p>
<p>The protein is important in the plan because your body will actually burn calories digesting a large quantity of protein. You lose weight through eating certain foods. Your body uses its stored fat to process the protein. However, your body will burn carbohydrates first.</p>
<p>When you completely (or almost completely) eliminate carbohydrates from your diet, your body has no other resource for energy besides its storage of extra fat to burn. The Atkins Diet is a high-protein, low-carbohydrate eating plan that works wonders at first. You can lose a lot of weight in relatively little time on this program.</p>
<p>I can’t remember exactly how much my friend lost when he was on the Atkins Diet years ago, but I do remember that it was an awful lot. I remember him getting a lot of compliments on his success, but I don’t remember him suffering on the plan at all. He did eat a lot of cheese, eggs and meat on the plan. Eventually, he told me he craved bread and pasta. </p>
<p>Herein lays the biggest problem with the Atkins Diet. The plan is not realistic. People will go back to eating carbohydrates eventually. Unfortunately, it takes only a small amount of carbohydrates to throw your efforts out the window. These carbohydrates include fruit on the Atkins Diet.</p>
<p>My friend gained weight faster than he lost it once he quit the program. The Atkins Diet is a great way to lose a lot of weight in a little bit of time, but it is not a life-long eating plan that most people can follow. If you are looking to lose 20 to 30 pounds in one month, the Atkins Diet is a good choice. If you are making a life change, opt for another program. </p>
<p>The Atkins diet can be adjusted to a less aggressive program if you have a lot of weight to lose and wisely choose to lose the pounds more slowly over a longer period of time. This would be less stressful, much healthier and give the stretched skin a chance to shrink. Skipping the induction phase is one way. You may find this more sustainable over the long haul using the Atkins diet. </p>
<p>One important key to health and success with any low carb diet is to make every carb count by choosing nutrient dense live carbs. These include fresh vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, spinach, and green beans. This is critical where total carbs are very limited - such as with the first two stages of the Atkins diet. </p>
<p>The Atkins diet, as with any diet program, has its good and bad points - but, whatever side you are on, one thing is for sure. Dr. Atkins, and the Atkins diet, has done for the diet and nutrition industry what Mohammad Ali did for the boxing industry. Dr. Atkins created new awareness and introduced new concepts that will forever affect how we look at diets for weight loss as well as diets for health. Although the low carb diet was first written about in the late 1800&#8217;s, low carb dieting truly came to life with the birth of the Atkins diet. </p>

However, many complain that they just don&#8217;t have enough time in their schedule for exercise. With the fast paced lives that most of us lead, it&#8217;s understandable that most of us are time starved and without the proper time for exercise. However, exercise is essential to our health, so it is important to understand that even a brief amount of exercise performed on a regular basis can go a long way to improve your life. 10-15 minutes of exercise performed 3-4 times a week will do a lot to improve every aspect of your physical health. </p>
<p>I have been using aerobic workout videos for years to maintain my weight. My favorite videos are The Firm and Walk Away The Pounds. Let me tell you – if you have the right setup and the right attitude, they work every bit as well as an actual aerobics class at the gym. Although many people buy aerobic videos to lose weight, and then leave them on the shelf, gathering dust, and never do anything with them, others use them to catapult themselves into a healthier, more successful life. What is the difference? Why do aerobic videos help some folks lose pounds of fat, butfail miserably for others? Allow me to explain.</p>
<p>You see, it is not about the aerobics videos folks use to lose weight at all, but about the person watching them. The first and most important thing is that you have the proper attitude towards exercise that will result in weight loss success. From the beginning you need to set reasonable goals. You also need to maintain a consistent exercise schedule that will help you succeed in all of your goals, and that is no easy task. This effort will not come from the aerobic videos – it has to come from you. The most important thing is that you exercise regularly. Doing each aerobic video twice every third Sunday to lose weight won&#8217;t cut it. Even if you never make it all the way through your aerobic videos at first, you have to be using them every day or you will not get the maximum results from them – you will barely get any results at all, truth be told. Set reasonable goals and stick with them. It is no good telling yourself that you will do a two-hour workout with your aerobic videos every day, and then failing right away. Set little goals, ones you know that you can succeed at, to build confidence.</p>
<p>Equally important is to have a good space to do your aerobics workout. If you live in a cramped, one room apartment with clothing all over the floor, forget it. You can use some aerobic videos with less space than you might think, but if you don&#8217;t at least clear a little room to move around in, you will never reach any of your weight loss goals, and that is a crying shame. The beginning of your aerobic workout is really setting a time, clearing out a space, and psyching yourself up. Don&#8217;t expect immediate success from using your aerobic videos. It will be hard work. But if you persevere, within a month you will notice major changes.</p>

It is easier to combine aerobics and create a small caloric deficit in your diet than to do one or the other solely. </p>
<p>How&#8217;s the weight looking these days? Is the bathroom scale taunting you relentlessly? You know what; I&#8217;ll bet it&#8217;s flat out lying to you. Scales have a tendency to do that, right? Okay, this is highly unlikely. But don&#8217;t you ever feel that way? <p>How often do you exercise? This is an important question that everyone should be asking themselves. Fitness is a key factor in staying healthy and living well. You want to live well, right? Of course, we all want to live hospital free lives. Therefore good habits must be acquired, and at a youthful age if possible. It&#8217;s always prudent to start earlier, rather than later. In recent years I decided to improve my diet. Although I&#8217;ve always been slim, that is not the only aspect to consider. Just because you&#8217;re always slim, doesn&#8217;t mean you&#8217;re always healthy. Poor eating habits can take its toll on your body and mind. </p>
<p>In addition to a proper diet, I began exercising more. This is something everyone should consider. Your body can really go down hill if you fail to ever use it. Sitting in a chair in a cubicle everyday doesn&#8217;t help much. What we all need are some decent aerobic exercises. These are what get the heart pumping and muscles working. You not only burn calories, but you make your body stronger. With regular aerobic exercises, you also increase your energy levels. This is ideal if you are a busy-body like me. I think it&#8217;s safe to say that we could all use some more energy. The sad truth is that so many individuals don&#8217;t know that energy depends on diet and exercise. These are crucial factors, okay? </p>
